"Rogue Histories" : What Explains the Allure of Alternate Pasts?
I’m happy to report that I finally tracked down a PDF version of an excellent article published earlier this year by Gemma Wheeler in SciFi Now entitled, “Rogue Histories,” which discusses the proliferation of alternate histories in present-day popular culture. (SciFi Now has unfortunately folded due to financial reasons and the article can no longer be found online).
I’m including the second page below, which provides a discussion of Amazon Prime’s The Man in the High Castle, Hulu’s 11.22.63, HBO’s Watchmen and The Plot Against America, among other narratives. You will have to click and zoom in, but it's worth the effort.
The article also features a list of highly rated alternate history novels provided by the American fiction writer, Ginn Hale.
Enjoy!
